OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION

The original statue of Our Lady of the Assumption was given to the Cathedral by Gelose and Catherine Lord, the parents of Mr. Ed Lord. In 1953 the statue was removed from the upper Cathedral because of renovations and the statue was in need of repair. It remained in the music room until the early 1970's at which time Msgr. James J. O'Brien gave it to the sisters in Baltic. A year ago the statue was given to someone to repair. At that time Fr. Tony saw the statue and realized that it was the original statue of the Cathedral. The statue has been repaired and will be in the Cathedral for the Feast of the Assumption.
