Monsignor Tony's Christmas Message
Christmas songs have been ringing out for weeks. We hear them in stores and malls, while waiting on the phone, one the radio, in television commercials and, of course, ringing in our heads by the end of the day. It is unfortunate that we are entreated to "Rock Around the Christmas Tree," told "You'd Better Not Cry," and "Sing with the Chipmunks," rather than rejoice with, "Glory to the Newborn King!" But today, Christ's birth is celebrated, along with all the beauty that surrounded it. His blessed mother Mary and foster father Joseph, angels, Magi, shepherds and a brilliant star are remembered in the carols of Christmas. How beautiful to be beckoned to the stable with the wonderful words, "O Come, All Ye Faithful, Joyful and Triumphant." What an awakening of our spirits to hear, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the Newborn King!" and how humbling to see the insignificant town of Bethlehem ennobled and enlightened by God leading the Magi, "O Star of Wonder, Star of Light, Star with Royal Beauty Bright, Westward Leading, Still Proceeding, Guide Us to the Perfect Light." May each one of us be led to the Christ Child this glorious Christmas day and open our homes, and our spirits to His love. God bless you, and Merry Christmas!
