MARRIAGE ARRANGEMENTS




WEDDING MUSIC SHOWCASE







Arrangements should be made at least one year before the wedding date. A $50 deposit is required to book a wedding, applicable to the Cathedral fee. The deposit is refundable if the wedding is cancelled at least 90 days before the wedding day.








MARRIAGE LICENSE

The marriage license may be obtained through most municipal offices. Apply for the license one month before the wedding.








PRE-CANA SESSIONS

All couples must attend Pre-Cana sessions. For Information, please contact the Cathedral Rectory.








OTHER PARISHES

Those from other parishes must obtain written permission from their Pastor before making reservations for their wedding at the Cathedral. They must also arrange for Pre-Cana classes with their respective parishes. As an alternative, those from other parishes may attend Pre-Cana classes at the Cathedrdal if they obtain permission to do so from their pastor.








PRE-MATRIMONIAL INVESTIGATION

If you are ROMAN CATHOLIC, you will need the following certificates:

* A new Baptismal Certificate from the Church in which you were baptized (must be dated within the past 6 months)

* Copies of First Holy Communion and Confirmation Certificates (available by requesting copies from the parish in which those Sacraments took place).

* If you are a NON-CATHOLIC, please obtain a copy of your Baptismal Certificate, If possible.








DONATIONS

It is customary that couples being married at the Cathedral make a donation to the Church. The fee for parishioners who make regular contributions through the envelope system is less than for non- parishioners. Parishioners are defined as registered members of the Cathedral using Church envelopes. Please call the Rectory for the current fee schedule.








WEDDING MASS/CEREMONY







COORDINATION

Mrs. Sunnie Robinson provides Mass, Ceremony coordination services to include personal consultation, rehearsal coordination, assisting the bridal party on the wedding day, and organizing the family/bridal party entrance/recessional. Mrs. Robinson can be reached at (860) 887-7248.








MUSIC

Mr. Douglas Green, the Director of Music and Cathedral Organist, is responsible for all wedding music at the Cathedral. All couples must contact Mr. Green at their earliest convenience at 886-0403. Mr. Green will gladly assist you in planning the music for your wedding in accordance with Diocesan guidelines. He can also be very helpful in contacting vocalists and instrumentalists.








ALTAR SERVERS

Altar Servers assist at Wedding Masses. We ask that a courtesy gift of $20.00 in cash be given to each Altar Server.








CONFESSIONS

Confessions will be available for you and your wedding party immediately following the rehearsal. Please take this opportunity to prepare yourselves for the proper reception of the Sacrament of Matrimony.








FLOWERS-AISLE RUNNER

Your florist will handle flowers, pew bows, the aisle runner, etc. The length of the center aisle is 100 feet. It is customary for the bride to leave the flowers in the Cathedral for Sunday services.








PHOTOGRAPHERS

All photographers and videographers are asked to check with the Priest to determine which areas are off limits. You may return to the Cathedral to take pictures following your receiving line if you wish. Please inform your photographer that picture-taking must be completed in accordance with the following schedule:

10:00 a.m. ceremony –11:30 a.m.

12:00 p.m. ceremony-1:30 p.m.

2:00 p.m. ceremony-3:30 p.m.








PARKING

Limousines are to park in the street only, not on the walkway to the Cathedral. Please check with the Ceremony Coordinator or the Priest if you plan to utilize a horse & carriage.








RICE, CONFETTI, PETALS, etc.

As a matter of courtesy, we insist that no confetti, rice, birdseed, flower petals, etc., be thrown at the entrance to the Cathedral, in the cathedral, or in the street. Please inform your wedding party and guests of this policy which is in effect not only at the Cathedral, but most churches.








REHEARSAL

The rehearsal date and time are set when the Pre-Matrimonial Investigation is completed. All rehearsals must begin and end on time. You must bring the following:

Marriage License

Gift for Altar Servers

Donation for the Cathedral

Organist/musician/vocalist/ ceremony coordinator fees








CANCELLATION

You must notify the Rectory at least 90 days in advance in order to receive a refund of your $50 deposit.
